The first step of the Event Wizard asks you to define the event itself. To define an event, enter the following information:
Event type: Select the type of event you wish to add. Your options are event and notice. For a description of the difference between an event and a notice, please read What is an Event? In this field, also select whether this event will occur Off Campus or On Campus.
Start time: Enter the date and time at which the new event will begin. If you use the provided clock icon to select the time, note that time defaults to AM. Therefore, be sure to click on PM for evening events.
End time: Enter the date and time at which the new event will end.
Event title: Enter a short, but descriptive title for the new event. This title is what will appear on the campus calendar(s) and the events listing on the Cool Stuff page.
Event description: Enter a description of the event.
Estimated attendance: Estimate the number of people you expect to attend this event. (Don't be intimidated here; just make your best guess.)
Notes to scheduling office: Add any special requirements that the scheduling office needs to know about. For example, if this event requires using a slide projector, request a screen and slide projector here.
Enter building for event: Enter the name of the campus building at which you plan to hold the event. (If this event is off campus, leave this field blank.) Note that the building selection field uses a dynamic list display. If you have not yet obtained a building from the campus scheduler, be sure to tick the "Find a location for me" checkbox.
Enter room: Enter the room in which you plan to hold the event. (If this event is off campus, leave this field blank.) If you have not yet obtained a building from the campus scheduler, be sure to tick the "Find a room for me" checkbox.
Enter off campus location: Enter the location at which your off campus event will be held. (If this event is on campus, leave this field blank.)
Enter URL: Enter the URL of any web page that you wish to associate with this event.
Enter URL site title: Enter a title to be associated with the web page you entered above. You can enter any title you like in this field. If you enter nothing, this field defaults to the event title you entered above.
To clear this form and begin again, click Reset.
Once you are satisfied with all entries on this screen, click Next to add or modify the sponsor entry.
