Digests

On many campuses, "digests" or periodic email updates evolved to solve the problem of users overloading the mail servers with similar messages. For example, if 67 faculty members decide to post descriptions of departmental events, campus users really don't want to read 67 separate emails. Likewise, users have little patience with 45 requests for used books, 36 old sofas for sale, or 18 queries about local day cares. To minimize the number of these emails, CNAV institutions can form any number of "digests" to which users submit these types of email. Digest submissions are databased and aggregated until a specified time at which the compiled message is sent out to the digest mailing list.

CNAV takes this concept a step further by allowing users to view their digests in CNAV only, keeping the clutter out of their email altogether.

CNAV lists the available digests on the My Stuff tab of the Cool Stuff page. Unless you have customized your CNAV display, the Cool Stuff page appears first every time you log into CNAV. You can also access the Cool Stuff page directly by clicking My Place, My Cool Stuff.

For each digest available, you can do the following:

Note that CNAV allows for the creation of four distinct types of digests.
