Clicking My Place, My Portfolio, My Planner displays the semester planner. This Planner allows students to plan courses, events, club memberships, internships, and other activities for this semester, next semester, or indeed, the student's entire academic career.
At the top of the Planner, CNAV displays the current number of planner entries. For viewers other than the student herself, CNAV also displays the number of entries the current viewer is authorized to see. Obviously, a student can view all of her Planner entries. However, it is up to the student which entries are viewable by that student's advisor. A student can allow her advisor to view some, all, or none of her Planner entries. To define the people and groups allowed to view this Planner, click Edit Planner Access Groups.
To display entries having only a specific Priority or Status, select the desired option from the drop-down list and click Filter Planner.
Semester plans are listed by term, usually starting with the student's first semester during the first year. To accommodate transfer students, however, any semester can be selected in the initial grid. For a closer view of a specific semester, click Zoom.
Each semester grid begins with a list of the semester number (Term 1, Term 2, etc.), year within the student's college career (e.g. Sophomore, Junior, Senior,) season (Spring semester or Fall semester), and calendar year. To change any of these values, select the appropriate value(s) from the drop-down list(s) and click Update.
Each semester grid then displays all items planned for that semester. An item can be a course, an activity, a club, or anything else that the student wishes to include. For each item, the Planner lists the following items:
E -- Edit/Delete. Click the appropriate icon to edit tor delete the current item. If you opt to edit the item, CNAV displays the Planner Items edit screen.
P -- Prompts. Click the Prompt List icon to view and respond to the prompts for this item. If there are no prompts for this item, the prompt icon will appear with a universal "No" symbol overlaid.
P -- Priority. This field indicates the importance of completing this item. U indicates Urgent items; L indicates Low-priority items.
S -- Status. The current status of the item. The possible values are P (In Progress), C (Completed) , H (On Hold), and N (Not Yet Begun).
T -- Term. This indicates the term relative to the student's college career. First semester, first year is Term 1; second semester, senior year is term 8. Up to 12 terms can be specified. You can even move an item to a different term simply by selecting the destination term here. The screen will refresh automatically.
To add a new item, click Add Item at the bottom of the planner grid. CNAV displays the New Planner Item screen.
If you are starting your Planner part-way through your academic career, you can also quickly complete entries for past semesters by clicking Import Transcript Courses.
