Each student can use the Portfolio Generator to define one or more portfolios, as needed. For example, a student might have one portfolio focused on artistic endeavors and another portfolio geared toward graduate school applications. In each case, the portfolio contents will be discipline-specific. That is, an English major's portfolio must and will look very different from an Art major's portfolio or a Chemistry major's portfolio. To facilitate this usage, CNAV provides the capability to define Portfolio Outlines. Each outline defines a different type of portfolio.
The ability to create Portfolio Outlines is generally delegated from the Academic Advising Office to the experts in the fields to be covered. For example, Art Portfolio Outlines would normally be created by the Art Department. Outlines for internship applications would be created by the Internship Office, etc.
Each Portfolio Outline is divided into sections instructing the student on what information to include. Thus, a Portfolio Outline is basically a template that students can use to create portfolios of the given type.
