Clicking CNAV Tools, Maintenance, Calendar Maintenance, News Type Maintenance allows you to maintain the available news types.
From this screen, you can perform the following tasks:
Add a news type
Modify an existing news type
Delete an existing news type
The news types that you maintain with this tool are the types that will display when you are asked to select a News type during the process of adding a news item.
To add a news type, click Add. CNAV displays the Happening Type Maintenance screen. On that screen, enter the following information:
Code: Enter an abbreviated code to represent the news type. You can use up to 10 alphanumeric characters. Example: REVIEWS for Campus film and theatre reviews. This is a required field. Note that once you enter this field, you cannot change it. However, you can change the values entered in any other field on this screen.
Description: Enter a short, but useful, description of the news type being added. This is a required field.
After entering all required fields, click Submit. Once you add a news type, you can use the Add News Desk link to associate this news type with one or more campus news desk(s).
Modifying an existing news type
To modify an existing news type, click the Edit icon on the table line corresponding to the news type you wish to modify. Note that you cannot modify the Happening code abbreviation. However, you can change the contents of the description field.
After making all desired changes, click Update. At this point, you can also add or remove news desk associations.
Deleting an existing news type
To delete an existing news type, simply click the Delete icon on the table line corresponding to the news type you wish to delete. Note that you cannot delete a news type that is currently associated with any campus news desks. To remove such a news type, you must first remove the news desk associations.
