Clicking CNAV Tools, Heart Beats, Heart Beat displays the general CNAV system heart beat information. The exact items checked in this heart beat will depend on which CNAV modules and subsystems have been implemented at your institution. However, items that are typically checked include:
Is email running?
Is Oracle running?
Is Cold Fusion running?
Is the cron system running?
Is the Periodic Messaging System running?
Is LDAP running?
Is the Logging System running?
Can we "ping" the outside world?
Are the disks at or near full capacity?
For each item checked, the Heart Beat tool returns the following information:
Status: This column displays a colored icon that reports the current status of each function. The possible icons are:
Green: A green light indicates that the object is running fine.
Yellow: A yellow light reports fair performance and indicates potential problems to follow.
Red: A red light indicates that the function is not running and may require operator attention.
Function Name (Frequency): This column lists the name of each function being checked in the system heart beat. The parenthetical comment reports how often this function is checked by the Heart Beat tool.
Last/Next Pulse: This column lists the date and time at which the heart beat was last taken on this function and the date and time at which the next heart beat will be obtained.
