To modify an expertise category, click Campus Tools, Experts Admin. Under Edit expert information, select Modify a general category.
Two steps are required to modify a general category:
Selecting the category to be modified
When you select Modify a general category, CNAV displays the Select Category screen.
The Select Category screen allows you to select a category in two ways:
Directly by name: The second half of this screen shows all expertise categories currently defined, listed in alphabetical order. To select a category directly, simply click the Edit icon next to the name of the category you wish to modify.
Alphabetically: If many expertise categories have been declared on your campus, the alphabetical list may become unwieldy. To speed the selection process, click the letter corresponding to the first character in the name of the category you wish to modify. The list shown on the second half of the screen will be redisplayed and limited based on the letter you selected. From the shortened list, click the Edit icon next to the name of the category you wish to modify.
Once you select a category to modify, CNAV displays the Modify Category screen.
Making the category modifications
On the Modify Category screen, you can do the following:
Modify the category name and/or description: Change the name and/or description of the category as desired.
Delete the category: To delete the category, tick the Delete category checkbox.
Unlink topics currently associated with the category: To remove links to topics currently associated with this category, untick the corresponding checkboxes under Click to unlink topic(s) from category.
Link additional topics to the category: To add links to topics that you wish to associate with this category, tick the corresponding checkboxes under Check topic(s) to link to category.
After making all desired changes, click Submit.
To clear this form and start again, click Reset.
To return to the Select Category screen, click Back.
