Bundles

Some inventory items really constitute a matched set. For example, the computer in your office may actually consist of four items: a CPU, an external zip drive, a monitor, and a keyboard. Each of those items could have its own serial number, manufacturer, etc. Thus, each item would have its own entry in the inventory system. In practice, however, this set of items will always travel as a group. If you transfer your CPU to another building, it's a fairly sure bet that you'd take the keyboard, monitor, and zip drive with it.

To accommodate "grouped" items, the CNAV inventory system supports inventory groupings called bundles. One bundle might be Jane's PC. If Jane's PC is transferred to John, the bundle itself stays intact. That is, all parts in the bundle are transferred at the same time. In addition, the inventory worker doesn't need to enter the owner change on the inventory record for each and every item in the bundle. After changing any bundle item, the inventory worker can "Synchronize the bundle to that item", effectively applying the change to all other items in the bundle automatically.

Clicking Campus Tools, Inventory, Bundles displays the Item Bundles screen. This screen lists all bundles currently defined for this inventory. To edit an existing bundle, click the Edit button next to that bundle name. To add a new bundle, click New. In either case, CNAV displays the Item Bundle edit screen.
