CNAV sends out periodic messages to users for a wide variety of reasons: reminders about events, ride board matches, grade submission confirmations, etc. CNAV also sends a large number of messages to system administrators. System administrators receive cron reports, Oracle notices, bug reports, and other system messages. To avoid annoying users with flurries of email messages, and to minimize the load placed onto the mail servers, CNAV can aggregate certain messages by using the Periodic Messaging system.
Clicking CNAV Tools, Maintenance, Messaging Maintenance allows you to maintain the Periodic Messaging System by performing the following tasks:
Searching for mail messages sent to or from specific CNAV users
Maintaining the initialization variables associated with periodic messaging
Note that periodic messaging applies only to those email messages sent within and by CNAV. Periodic message aggregation and searching capabilities do NOT apply to email messages that users receive through email servers outside of CNAV.
