Creating a new CNAV user account

Manual account creation is used when new people are added during the course of a semester. For example, if a new faculty member is added midterm to replace an ill colleague, you will need to manually create an account for that person.

To manually create an account for a person, that person must be included in the databases from which CNAV derives its account information. Thus, a new person must be added to the employee database, student database, etc. before a CNAV account can be created.

To manually create a CNAV user account, follow these steps:

  1. Use the Find It Now, People function to display the CNAV ID screen for the person for whom you wish to create a new account.

  2. Click the Account Maintenance (Lock) icon to display the Modify User Account screen. NOTE: If the person you were searching for is not found, it is possible that he or she has not yet been added to the appropriate ERP database. It is also possible that the person was added but that database has not yet been reloaded into CNAV since the addition. (Most ERP database changes are uploaded to CNAV nightly.)

  3. Verify that this person does not yet have an account. On the Modify User Account screen, the Name field should followed by the phrase, “New Account Login, not confirmed.” If that phrase does not display, this person already has a CNAV account.

  4. Select the appropriate Account status. For account creation, the following two status values are valid:

  5. Select the institution to which this user belongs from the Institution drop-down list.

  6. Tick the appropriate Notify user checkbox to indicate whether you wish CNAV to email a notification of your changes to the account holder.

  7. Enter an initial password for the user account in the New password and Confirm password fields. Or, you may opt to Use SSN as the initial password.

  8. Click Submit.

 

Modifying an existing CNAV user account

To modify an existing CNAV user account, follow these steps:

  1. Use the Find It Now, People function to display the CNAV ID screen for the person whose account you wish to modify.

  2. Click the Account Maintenance (Lock) icon to display the Modify User Account screen.

  3. Change the Account status, if desired. For modification of an existing account, the following three status values are valid:

  4. Select the institution to which this user belongs from the Institution drop-down list.

  5. Tick the appropriate Notify user checkbox to indicate whether you wish CNAV to email a notification of your changes to the account holder.

  6. Enter a new password for the user account in the New password and Confirm password fields.  Or, you may opt to Use SSN as the newly set password.

  7. After making all desired changes, click Submit. (To clear your changes and start over, click Reset instead and go back to step 1.)
