When you opt to add a new service or edit an existing service for your department, CNAV allows you to specify the following information:
Department web page: Enter the URL of the official web site for your department.
Service information: Enter the following general information about the service itself.
Mark as alive: Tick this checkbox to activate the new or modified service. Students (and other viewers) will not see the new service until it is activated.
Institution: Select the institution(s) at which this service is offered from the provided drop-down list.
Narrative: Enter a short, but useful, description of the service being offered.
Choose realms: Tick the checkbox next to each user realm whose members you wish to be able to view this service.
Service URL information: If you wish to associate an URL with this service, please enter the following information about that URL:
Site title: Enter the name of the web site you are associating with this service. If you don't enter a value here, CNAV uses the service name as the default value.
URL: Enter the full Internet address of the web site you wish to associate with this service.
Narrative: Enter a short, but useful, description of this web site.
Request crawl: Tick this checkbox to ask CNAV to crawl this URL in search of keywords to use in future searches.
Contact information: Enter the name of the person who will serve as the contact point for CNAV users wishing to obtain more information about this service. This field uses a dynamic list display. To speed up the search, you may wish to select a user realm from the Search groups to limit the search. By default, CNAV includes Everyone in the search.
To clear this form and start again, click Reset.
After making all desired entries or changes, click Submit.
