As students add entries to their journals, they can group those entries into topics for easier retrieval at a later date. (When using the Journal Filter to browse the journal, students can ask CNAV to only list entries in a particular topic.) The default topic provided by CNAV is My Thoughts. However, you can add topics as you see fit to meet the needs of your institution and your students.
To maintain the topic options, select Campus Tools, Advising, Portfolio Tools, Topic Manager. From the Topic Manager screen, you can do the following:
Add a new topic. Type the name you wish to assign to the new topic in the text field under Create a new topic. Then, click New. CNAV will inform you that the topic you requested has been created. Click Continue. CNAV will display a blank Topic Full Details screen.
Edit an existing topic. Select the code you wish to edit from the drop-down list displayed under Edit an existing topic. Then, click Edit. CNAV will display the Topic Full Details screen with all information about the selected topic already filled out. From the left-frame of that screen, you can also access the Topic Tools. Using those tools, you can modify the topic properties, change the topic groups, or make the topic available to students.
To return to the Portfolio Tools screen, click Back.
